Committee Members

Our committee members work incredibly hard to ensure that the society runs smoothly. They are extemely committed to their roles and most of our committee members take on these responsibilities on the side of full time jobs or full time education. The main purpose of the committee is to ensure that the society is ran in an effective, fair and fun way. This page intends to introduce you to these members so that you can get an idea of who to speak to if you have any questions. 

DEREK CROOKS

CHAIRMAN

Derek has been a member of the group for 14 years and has been on the committee for 13 years. He loves the chance to play any role which allows him to show his wicked sense of humour and is also known to go "The Full Monty". His favourite musical performed with Sunderland would be Copacbana and he would love to perform Chicago.

JEN ELLIOTT-FARROW

TREASURER

Jen is quite new to Sunderland Theatre Company and has recently taken on the role of Treasurer. She prefers to stay behind the scenes but is excited to be able to support such a fabulous group. Her favourite musical is Phantom of the Opera but if she had any talent she'd love to play Maria from The Sound of Music.

MATHEW CLARKE

VICE-CHAIRMAN

Mat has been part of the company for a few year's now, and has been on the committee for around eleven months. Having being involved in musical theatre since his school days, Mat's most prominent roles have been lead roles in 'FAME', 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Sunshine on Leith'. If he could choose any musical, he'd love to be in We Will Rock You.

CARA FOWLER

YOUTH LIAISON OFFICER

Cara has been a part of Sunderland Theatre Company from the young age of 7 and has loved every second. She's relished the challenge of being a part of the committee for 5 years. From performing in Evita to Guys and Dolls, Cara's favourite role has been 'Yvonne' in 'Sunshine on Leith'. Cara would love to be in Footloose and 'kick off her Sunday shoes'.

BRIAN LEACH

SECRETARY

Brian has been a member for 29 years and has directed most of the group's productions since 2008. Brian loves showcasing his creative vision when directing and also enjoys facing respective challenges. There are too many musicals for Brian to chose a favourite though he was proud to play Che Guevara in Evita in 2002.

ALEXANDRA FISK

FUNDRAISING OFFICER

Alex is another of our newbies and has been part of the company for six months. She has only recently joined the committee is already exploring several funding avenues. She is looking forward to organising lots of fun fundraising events as well as performing on the stage. Her favourite musical to be a part of was West Side Story and would love the chance to perform Les Miserables.

Nathan is new to the company, having worked in the Charity sector for a number of years is happy to be supporting this great group. Having started performing at the age of 8, his favorite roles have been Archibald Craven from Secret Garden and Lt Cable in South Pacific. The musical he would love the opportunity to perform in is Avenue Q.

NEW MEMBERS CONTACT

Sam is new to the committee and has been involved in STCo for 3 years now, joining to take part in Boogie Nights. Having studied both Performing Arts and Theatre Studies at college, she has always loved being on the stage and performing.

Her favourite role to date was playing Mabel in FAME; a  charasmatic character with a belter of a song. Sams dream musical to perform is Chicago.
